Newest Arrivals: Ossining Post Card Collection

Here is but a small sampling of the postcards recently acquired by the museum through a generous donation from a long-time ex-resident. An art form unto themselves, postcards provide the younger viewer with a glimpse into the past and older viewer with memories of days long gone.

From the w. arthur slater collection of glass plate ambrotype

In December 2002, Arthur Slater, Jr. donated to the ossining historical society museum his collection of over 4,000 glass plate negatives. this collection includes the photographic archives of local photographers covering a period of time between 1921 and 1934. also included, is over 100 images of sing sing prison.

the collection itself is a rich representation of the social, educational and commercial life of this important hudson river village and it’s neighboring communities.
